I posted a message a few days ago about my IH 500 track loader not wanting to move. Since then I spoke to the former owner and he seems to think a valve that controls the power to the output shafts could be sticking. It has a torgue converter, no clutch (the clutch apparently operates the valve, and the shuttle shift. Today I took a plug out of the top of the forward/reverse block on the side of the transmission and found a spring underneath. On top of the spring were a couple of spacers and also a nickel and penny someone had stacked on. I took the penny out and replaced it with another nickel in hopes it may help. Well when I fired it up the loader it moved! The bad part is it only moved about 100 feet and stopped again. Just like you"d put it in neutral. While it was moving I gave it more fuel and it seemed to slow down. Anyone out there have any possible solutions to the problem?

Sounds like you have either a weak pump or an internal leak. The spacers are are shims to adjust pressure, someone added the nickle and penny to up the pressure. OR the spring may just be weak, I would repalce the spring first, use the 2 shims
and work from there.
