What model Ford agricultural tractor is the 79 Ford 555 based off of?

Is the 3 cylinder engine rebuildable or is it a "throw-away" as some people indicate?

Can the front pump be disconnected and moved forward enough to replace the fan belt?

And yes the front coupler will slide forward enough for belt replacement after you take out all 4 bolts.

Those engines can be sleeved, thus are rebuildable. They are very tough and stout.

Engine will be 4600 or 4610 depending on age. I have rebuilt several of these in the past, just depends on how bad yours is weather to rebuild or replace.

probably off a 4000 series, 4600, perhaps?
You can buy complete engine packages from India pretty cheap, so overhauling may not be worthwhile. Especially if you don't want to waste downtime. They used to build Ford tractors under contract. See Farmtrac dealer.
