I have a Ford 555 that won't move. Supposedly the shuttle is not working. What checks can be done to determine what is wrong?

Check to see if correct trans oil, also the transmission is a torq converter drive so it could be bad. The motor is a Ford 201, New Holland no longer sells new replacement motors only rebuilt at a price higher than the new motors use to cost. NH didn't want to spend the development costs to bring them up to the new enviormental standards. The Farmtrac dealer I tried couldn't get the larger 201 replacement only the lower Hp motor at 5,000.00 + but that was a quite a while a go, and the dealer didn't want to deal with it. Your old motor is in demand by rebuilders and NH has a core charge for there rebuilt motor. Allan
