Butch,

The seal in my 1000 case dozer got hard and
very difficult to prime ,and in the 1000 the seal was a trostel seal and no longer made by
trostel. I found a CR seal with the right shaft
size but larger OD and I bored the housing to fit.

I looked in the parts book for a 450 and the seal is listed there . But that doesn't mean you have to go to case to get it as it most likely can be
had from a bearing and seal warehouse . Give me a ser # and I'll look up the seal # and see if I have a cross reference # for it . Send it in the email .

WELL BILL I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM,BUT WE'RE NOT ALONE.YOU CAN GET THAT HOSE FROM A CASE DEALER AND NOT THAT EXPENSIVE OK BEST WAY TO PREVENT LOOSING PRIME IS TO PARK IT ON A SLIGHTLY DOWN HILL ADDITUDE IF YOU PARK IT SLIGHTLY UP HILL YOULL LOOSE THE PRIME YOU PROBABLY NEED A NEW PUMP

Butch, The pump may not be worn out, if the shaft seal wears it will give you the same symptoms. A new seal may cure your troubles .I have have the same problem on case 1000 ( same design system ) , new seal cured the trouble.
