I have a Case 450 with an engine serial number A35782. Cany anyone give me further information about this machine as to model number, etc.? I'm in the process of ordering new chains, rollers, idlers, sprockets, carriers and bolts for this machine as well. I've talked about rebuilding her for years and now i'm going to do it finally! Can someone give me the rundown if I can split the tracks myself and what tools i would need.

The number you posted is a part number for the block. 450 Case's have a serial number break, up to 3050800, or 3050801 and up. They have different under carriage but the rest of the machine is pretty much the same up until the "B" models. As for checking her out, check for cracked roller frames, shim up the front idlers and repack the track adjuster. it is a good time to check the blade trunions. Dont bother the recoil spring, it is dangerous to service, if it looks ok.

What are some other things I can do for maintance or adjust while the tracks are off? I've been operating the machine for the last year or so. I've had to put on new hoses, clean the entire fuel system (lines, tank, filters, etc.), new exhaust, new gauges and now new undercarriage. Now I'm going to be removing the tracks (it's taking a while because the shmuck that had it before me welded EVERY joint and seam on the undercarriage, putting it through severe duty i'm sure) and thought while i'm in there and everything is out of the way might as well check out her innards and make sure everything is looking ok. The machine operates fine otherwise. Looking for some preventative maintaince tips. Thanks fellers!
