I have a 1987 JD450 dozer I use around my place. It really works nice for the first couple of hours. Once it gets good and warm it does not want to move when going into rev.\forward or vise-versa. If the unit is moving when changing directions it will continue to operate correctly. It's when I stop and change directions it will not move. If I continue to move the forward\reverse lever back and forth it will finally move. If the weather is cool-in the 50's I don't have this problem. My unit runs normal timperatures. The hotter the outside temp the quicker the shifter malfunctions. Thanks--tdozerman

Can you shift the HLR from high to reverse without clutching it at upper throttle speeds?? OR does it shift rock hard and neck snapping??? HLR adjustment is probably needed..Follow the tech manual for HLR speed of shift adjustments..I can walk you through it if necessary..Let us know..

Have you checked the main clutch adjustment and the HLR linkage adjustment in the clutch housing. You will need a pressure gauge to do this properly.
