Hey guys I have a 490e JD excavator that I want to put A/C on.I have yet to see a 490E with factory A/c.My question is will the evaporator core, air box,and ductwork out of an ex120 fit in the Deere cab? The ex 120 cab looks identical to mine and I really hate to put add on air in the cab because the box on these units sit right on top of the computers in the back of the cab and will make getting to them a nitemare!I have found plenty EX120's in the boneyard but I dont want to pay out money for something that may not fit. Thanks for any help!

An ex120-2 is equal to a Deere 490e below a certain serial number break-- an ex120-3 is the same as a 490e above the serial number break..I forget how the numbers run but 150000 or 015000 stick in my head as the serial number break. . I'm not sure what the differences are between the two.. and a 490E has a deere engine in it as opposed to an Isuzu in the Hitachi's. So I guess you'd have a better chance of things fitting and wiring correctly if you could match the number of your 490e to the correct ex120..

Typically, the EX120-2s had the pump gears running in hyd oil...(heat generator and Hp consumer) The Ex120-3 had a seperate gear box with 90wt. The cabs structures were the same between the 490E, and the 120-2s and -3s. The difference between the EX120-2s and -3s was the paint. The -2 was grey, the -3 was an off color green. Any one of the cabs will fit along with the stuff in the cabs. The AC compressor will not fit the Deere engine unless brackets are fabricated. (Might be some brackets that would work, check other applications that use the same Deere engine)
Actually, the cab structure (with very minor modifications) was the same between all -2 and -3 and Deere's E models.
