Hello all. I have not posted for a while, but I am hoping someone can shed some light or point me to the right direction. I picked up an old skidsteer that has a 4 cyl propane run engine. The propane stuff is not working properly, so I would like to convert it back to gas. I am mount the tank, run the lines, and do the work without problem. The only thing I am unsure of, as I have never worked on propane before, is what do I need to do to the carb? Thanks.

I understand that there may be some differences in LP powered engines, on my tractor the head is a different part number, not an LP expert, but recent experience in the last few years running this Ford 850 LP, is the oil certainly stays clean, runs crisp, good power and exhaust is clean, I had some trouble starting and re-starting, also cold like about 15 deg F could be a problem, but I just re-built my Impco vaporizor/regulator, replaced the safety valve and it seems to run nice, no re-starting problems when hot. Seems that you need to keep the electrical connections and the coolant up to level on this type, other than that, trouble free, can't believe how long the oil stays clean. Some advantages to it, I keep a few spare cylinders full when working it a lot.

Compression ratio?
Some LP engines were fitted with quite a bit higher comp pistons or different head. Probably not a problem with modern fuels.

If it has a propane carb you will need a gas carb,Does it look like it has a fuel bowl for gas? But if it was converted too propane originally it could be reused for gas.
