I'm looking for an individual or company that can help me refurbish or replace the final drive clutch plate pads on a pre-65 d-fab Trackmaster which is a metal tracked with soft pad front push blade with backhoe machine. My machine has been significantly modified from its original configuration. The company is long out of business but was originally located in Montgomeryville, PA, then sold to a group in CA and shortly thereafter when out of business. Had numerous lawsuites because the name was changed from Trackmaster to Agricat and the Catapillar company claimed infringement on their name.
The pads are worn down through the rivets. I still have braking and turning, but it is erratic and inconsistent.
I can send picture of the parts to anyone who think they might be able to help me repair or replace the linings. Any help would be appreciated. It is a simple machine with 2 levers for braking and direction. 3 speed hydraulic chain drive transmission to final drive.
Any help would be very much appreciated. KM

Well I got the clutches relined and redid the entire final drive with new bearings and seals on the mid 60"s d-Fab Trackmaster only to get to the throwout collar assembly to find that 1 bearing was siezed. I freed that up using a technique I found on an auto transmission site. Problem now is the retainer and locking rings are all distorted and bind up. If anybody knows anybody who may have a junker parts machine of the same name or one named Agricat or Agritrac, I"d really appreciate a lead. I"ve tried the usual small crawler/tractor sites without any luck. This site seems to have more activity so I thought I might have a better chance of finding the parts or some suggestions for alternatives. KM

Thanks for all the good leads. I'm in NE PA and any of the places given would be acceptable choices. I google again using the terms given. Might get some hits closer to my area. Thanks again. KM

Don't know where your located but there's a place in Landis, NC called Ceco friction Products that ought to be able to do anything you need done. We often get lining material from them to reline the brakes and clutches on the older friction cranes for our customers, and have had Ceco make bands as well as put on the bonded linings for us for other customers. Like anybody nowdays that does good work, their not cheap, but they are reasonable and will do a good job for you. Here's a link to their sight.

I have a few machines. The one I think you are referring to is mini track hoe made by Kobelco - a SS Super Shovel. Weighs about 700 lbs and you sit on a bike type set or stand on a plateform. They are no longer in production in the USA. Mine turned out to be a grey market one based on the serial number I supplied to Kobelco when I was ordering parts. Since all the literature and markings are in English, the rep from the company thought that it was an import to Canada, no doubt used as a rental and then somehow worked its way down to my area of NE PA.
No the machine I need parts for now is the successor to a machine named Agricat. I got the order of ownership mixed up. The Agricats were made in the late 50's early 60's and then the company which was in Mongomeryville, PA, the d-fab division of Freuhauf sold out to Joost in CA and changed the name to Trackmaster and made some style and model changes, but a lot of the part particularly the final drive and undercarrige are almost identical. So if you know of anyone with Agricats, they would know about the Trackmaster. Thanks for responding

Can't say as I've ever heard of this animal. I've had good luck with linings at a local clutch shop near me..Custom Clutch and Driveshaft . Cleveland , Ohio ..I don't usually buy all my clutch disks and plates there as I can buy the Deere disks and plates from an after market dealer at a better price . But they are very knowledgeable of drive disks and plates . I use Custom Clutch when I'm in a pinch and can't find them elsewhere . They usually come through...You might try Paint Valley Equipment in Millersburg , Ohio ..Thats where I get a lot of my Deere stuff..Maybe able to help...

Do a "google search" for Brake Lining Repair,
Friction Materials, and the like, will bring up names of companies that do that kind of work. Also try "Hemmings.com" look under "services offered" for brake shoes etc.
You should be able to find help.
