Case 450 won't move and making a horrible noise

I just got a 70's 450 for a fixer-upper project that is making a very loud noise and will not move most of the times. The noise sounds like a bunch of rocks inside the motor. I want to say it is coming from the torque converter or the rear of the motor, but I can't be sure. I took the small inspection plate off of where the flywheel is and it seems to have a lot of play when I pry it up and down with a screw driver. I thought I just had a rod knocking but now that it won't move I think my problems are else where(and maybe bigger??). Fluid in the trans is full. I do not know if it is THC but I also don’t think it matters for now. (It will have THC when fixed) Also I have noticed that some times the drive shaft will not turn or I am able to press on it with my boot and it will stop while I give it gas. Other times it will turn but the dozer still won't move. If I sit there long enough it might start to move but not with the power it should. I checked the suction filter and it had some large pieces of what looked like rubber hose in it. I do not see pressure on the TC gauge or the trans gauge but I also don"t know if they work. Any help, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have plenty more question but this all I can type for now. If you need any more info please ask.

Have you checked the u-joints in the driveshaft? If I'm not mistaken, there's a driveshaft in that machine from the tc to the tranny...

Thanks for the reply. I do not hear any strange noises from the trans just the area to the rear of the motor ( near the TC / flywheel area)

Break out your wrenches, you got a lotta work in front of you...hope you got the manuals, your gonna need em. seriously when youve got that kinda racket in the gearbox you need to pull it clear down, or at least far enough to get at all the places the broken bits and pieces can hide...I once replaced a countershaft cause it was the only piece I could see with any damage..ran fine for a cpl days till one of the broken teeth that I missed got up in between the cluster and rev gear splitting the case wide open... my point is be thorough, do the job once, do it right its money/time well spent
