Thanks for the help on the hard shifting probs. Roy.We adjusted the 1/2" nut down until just lifting the clutch pedal off the stop.Fine tuned the speed of shift w/the slotted screw and it is now shifting fine. Thanks again.Any pointers on adjusting the steering brakes. The steering levers had way too much free travel. We've tried to adjust according to procedure in manual. We did get the free travel within specs.but now the levers are very stiff and hard to pull.(removed pipe plugs from above final dr. housing and turned starwheel)We have not yet adjusted the steering valves. The machine does turn fine but the levers are hard to pull. Thanks for any help.

Does the engine pull down when you pull the steering levers when on smooth surface??? Shouldn't pull down much at all..If it does pull down when steering on smooth surface , brake bands are too tight..Sometimes we try to tighten the bands too much to take linkage slop out..It doesn't work that way..You will have to adjust the bands figuring for linkage looseness..I usually put gauges on the fittings that come directly from the steering valve. [ dead head the fittings with a pair of identical gauges ] Start the machine with HLR and gear shifter in neutral..Usually between 2nd gear and 3rd gear. Lock brake pedal down , at half throttle read the gauges..Should read around 150 lbs.or more.. By pulling the levers you can see the pressure drop.Adjust accordingly..Always go for the highest pressure reading you can get by adjusting the spools with the levers on their stops...Good Luck...
