JD 350B Checking Reverser presure this weekend

All,
I am going through my Reverser setting this weekend. It's slow to engage and I think slipping some. I've got my gauges all lined up. I think the fluid is old and dirty and I think the setting on speed of engagement may be a little slow and the machine is slow to engage forward and reverse. Will change oil and filter first. Any advice on the process I should use. What's the best way to get at the valve settings, I'll pull off floor boards, will I need to pull belly pan? I think I need to pull the belley pan to drain the oil, I don't see a hole for the drain plug.

You don't need to pull the belly-pan just to drain the oil. There's an access hole and you could probably reach it even without the hole if the pan insn't pushed up tight against the case. Filter comes out the side through the opening between the belly-pan and case - through the middle of the track. Cover is held on by four bolts. Entire oil change won't hardly take 3 gallons. Main pressure adjustment is done with the engine at half to full throttle and warmed up. If it's low, just pull the plug from the bottom of the control valve and stick a shim in. If you don't have shim - a washer - or even a coin will work. In regard to the rate-of-shift adjustment - make sure it's warmed up. In 2nd gear, full-throttle and NOT touching the clutch-pedal, you should be able to shift back-and-forth from to forward and reverse without snapping your neck. The shift should be firm but cushioned.
