One of the track adjusters on my 450C is losing grease out of the piston side. I have a J.D. tech manual and it list a tool set that it says is necessary for the seal replacement.I have not done this before and was wondering if this kit is really necessary.I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has put new seals in a track adjuster.

Thet're not necessary , just handy..With the tools you can " slam " them together..In your case , just clean up everything real well and help the polypack seal into the bore. There is a slight chamfer to the cast cylinder barrel , clean it up so the seal goes in without tearing corners off the seal..

A flap wheel on a drill will assure the chamfer is smooth. Use with very light oil or solvent.
