case 450b the trans pressure gauge flickers when I go from forwart to reverse or when I steer is this normal also it takeing a little longer for the pressure to build up. could this just be dirty filter or the wrong fluid. It takes about 1 to 2 minuntes to build up pfressure. I have only had this dozer for about 2 mounths and am working on a steep slope. I have pushed a lot of big rocks arounds with it.

1 to 2 min. is to long for it to build pressure. Case usually does have a suction filter (some just a strainer) in the suction line from trans. to charge pump. But the thing I have found most in these instances were loose hose clamps on the connections on the suction line. Air can be sucked in where fluid will not leak out. And will cause slow psi build-up, alot of times air passing thru the pump will make a strange noise as well.

Yes it will, when you make a shift it has to use pump flow to fill the selected clutch. If you could work it hard and it didn't overheat the trans it should be fine.

I worked it perty hard pushing rocks. The largest was about 4.5 ft high by 6 or 7ft long.It took a lot of manunvering to get it 1000 ft over a hill about 50ft high this was a steep slope and the transmission didn't over heat. I did one day heat it up but I pushed about 7 rocks over the hill but it was the motor that showed heat that day. Thanks a lot that takes a lot of worry off my mind
