mdk, did you get the speed of shift corrected? I have tried everything to get mine fixed. I have rebuilt the clutch control valve and high low reverse clutches. The external linkage on the clutch is free. Any adjustment on the speed of shift adjustment does'nt do anything. The only way I can keep it from breaking your neck is to lower the pressure at the clutch valve under the rubber plug on the bell housing. Roy, do you think the clutch valve operating shaft could be twisted?

I have a problem with the drilling of the shaft..Just a few degrees can screw up a beautiful thing..Sorry , I know it's a lot of work to change it....

Roy, I went back and readjusted everything according to you and the tech manual.Even went back and forth from there. Still the same thing, tries to break your neck at every shift. Started to take things apart to remove the engine again and put in a new clutch valve operating shaft.

I've never seen a twisted shaft..I have however seen the end holes wallowed out , or the cast knuckle wallowed out..Go back into the archives and look up the last few I commented on..Might help..

Roy, When I took everything apart to overhaul the H-L-R clutches and the clutch control unit I saw the holes in the clutch valve operating shaft were worn out so I redrilled them and put in larger roll pins. What if the clutch adjusting lever has slipped on the shaft? I adjusted the clutch to 3 3/4". Turned valve operating linkage stop nut in untill guage reads 160 psi. the clutch pedal moves away from the stop approx. 1/2". Pressing the clutch pedal 1/2 to 3/4" drops the pressure to 80psi instead of raising it 5 psi as per the book.

Dropped the belly pan and checked if the clutch adjusting lever had moved on the shaft. It had not. The only way that I can slow down the speed of shift is to reduce the pressure to around 70 psi. Also is seems that going into reverse is a lot smoother than going to either high or low forward.

Sorry to hear about your shift probs. Don. We just adjusted the 1/2" nut down until it just barely raised the clutch pedal off the stop.At that point the SOS adjusting screw started working for us.We adjusted the screw until we got a nice firm shift and left it at that. Thanks again for the info Roy.
