Track tension on a 555A JD

The track tension on one side of my 555A is too tight, so like the manual says, I undid the bolt next to the grease fitting on the yoke, and sure enough, a little grease came out. However, even after driving the machine around for half an hour, the tracks will not release. What next?

The tension on the other side is ok, but I noticed that it has the updated yoke without the bolt for releasing grease. How do you reduce tension on that style?

Great suggestion! It's a loader, I'll try your method, thanks.

Is it a dozer or loader?? If a dozer with 6 way blade , Place a wood block approx. 8-10 inches tall in front of the front idler . Angle the blade away from the track in question. Place a timber between the blade and the track on top of the block of wood. Angle the dozer blade till the timber touches the track...CAREFULLY angle the blade so it pushes in on the front of the track. This should push the idler in unless the track adjuster is really junk.. If a loader , roll the back of the bucket cutting edge so a timber can be inserted , pushing against the track..Watch out for splintering lumber..
