JCB 1400B wont start, any ideas what may be wrong?

Hello,

My JCB 1400B wont start when I turn the key, nothing happens at all and I just replaced the ignition switch and starter switch....I am able to start the machine by connecting a jumper cable to the + terminal on the battery then zapping the starter solenoid and it runs just fine and does everything I want it to do but I am getting tired of starting the machine this way.

Does anyone know what might be wrong and where I should begin looking for the problem? Maybe a wire came loose somewhere or the starter solenoid is shot (its only a feww years old)?

Any ideas are appreciated!

Well I found the problem, one of the wires that plugs into the ignition switch had slipped free of its crimped female connector that plugged into the ignition switch...I couldnt tell this was the problem as it was wrapped in black electric tape but when I unwrapped it was easy to pinpoint the problem. I re-crimped the female connector to the wire, plugged it back into the ignition and now it fires right up at the turn of the key....thank goodness and no more having to start the machine with jumper cables :)

Friend of mine had a similar issue with a newer Deere a month ago. It turned out to be that mice had taken up lodging under the dash, and sharpened their teeth on a few wires.
