International crawler- ? from a newbie

Greetings,

There is an older, 40's era International crawler sitting in a rural junkyard that has a Bucyrus Erie loader mounted on it, and I am curious as to its value in rusty, non-running condition. The motor is not stuck but most of the tin work is damaged or missing. The owner will sell it for its scrap metal value, and other then keeping another fine old machine out of China's melting pot, is this a fair price? What range do these machines weigh? It looks similiar to the TD-18 in the picture gallery. The front grill reminds me of the old international tractors. I appreciate any input or opinions from all of you old crawler buffs. BTW I am industrial arts/ gearhead guy and this would just be another project for fun, at the expense of the wife not liking more "fun projects" brought home, and not for resale, just the 'busted knuckle' pleasure and have something interesting for the grandkids to crawl all over. Thanks.

Its value is probably free to scrap price. If it's hard to get to/access, missing a bunch of parts, or a complete wreck, then closer to free. An old TD18 is probably on the order of 10-15 tons depending on accessories/age etc. If you wanna learn a whole lot more about these old IH crawlers go to the redpower site referenced below:

I found a picture that matches the front grill and the overall size of the crawler. TD-6. Thanks for the website!
