fuel leak on my D4

I have fuel coming from the open line under the fuel pump. this line Tee's into the bottom of the Fuel pump and it looks like it goes up to the return line on the injectors the other end is open under the fuel pump. why is it running fuel on the ground when it is running? the motor runs good, what would happen if I ran the open end of line to the top of the tank? thank you

I believe you have bad seals in your fuel transfer pump you would probably generate enough back pressure due to the length of the line and the lift to cause fuel to go into your crankcase ad dilute your engine oil. resealig the pump in not expensive. rebuilding an engine is
