Owner"s manual calls for 4.9g JCB trans. fluid (equiv. = Ford ESN-M2C 33G), and 2.8g SAE 20W20 engine oil. Neither one of these is readily available here in central PA. Could someone please offer up some alternatives that would be more available but just as good for the machine? This is a 2WD backhoe/loader, and I don"t use it during the winter. Thanks for any help. Bill

I wouldn't substitute tranny fluid, i spoke to the JCB guys and they indicated to use ONLY JCB tranny fluid. Which of course you would expect to hear BUT they did say that there is some kind of metallic coating on the clutch plate that will be attacked and render the tranny useless if an alternative is used. Also I think we JCB owners need to pay attentionn to the power steering fluid which I believe is mineral oil (but not sure) subing here could also cause problems I recall.

Hello,

I also own a 1400B, for the engine oil I use Delo 400 15w/40 engine oil which is available at most all auto part stores. For the tranny I use JCB special tranny fluid which I had to buy from my JCB dealer...there is an online company that sells JCB parts and may also sell the fluids...their website is Link and I have bought quite a few items from them and they are cheaper than my dealer. If you need a manual for your 1400B let me know.

I read the back of Type F and some of them say meet for m2c33-g. I'm wondering if it's ok to use type F
