I CAN NOT GET ONE OF MINE TO MOVE IN EITHER DIRECTION, APPLIED A PORTA-POWER IN THE OUTWARD DIRECTION WITH NOT LUCK, RELEASED THE GREASE BOLT AND RAN LOADER AGAINST LARGE TREE TRYING TO PUSH IT BACK, COULD NOT GET ANY GREASE TO COME OUT. IF I HAVE TO TAKE OUT ADJUSTER? HOW DO I GO ABOUT THIS , IS THIS A BIG JOB, DO I HAVE TO BREAK TRACK? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!!

losten both plugs, take them all the way out they have a safety slot to relieve pressure. fine an old sledghammer head, put it on a sprocket tooth as close to the top as possible, slowly back up. the adpuster will have to go in or the spring will compress
No you dont have to break the track. push the adjuste all the way in, the take out the 5 5/8 bolts 15/116 heads that hold the push rod to the fron of the adj. I have good luck puttin achain aroudn the Idler and the corner bucket tooth with it in full dump positin and slowly kurling the bucket back.blovk the idler. you should be able to take a large screwdriver ad hook the snapring in fron of the seal and pull the piston out.you may not be able to remove the cylinder if it is the problem but you cn put new sealson the piston.
I can scan you a picture if necessary.

Chris, if that doesn't work you may have to pull the adjuster and recoil spring out in one piece. The problem you have is because the front pilot that the adjuster is in gets tipped forward and the spring humps up because the lugs on the pilot under the stops get worn and let the pilot tip. That cross bears on the adjuster cylinder and takes a good grip. I would put the sledge head or a pin in the sprocket as Bob says and try to tighten the nut on the rod in the spring. Get it off the stops, remove the stops and then take the adjuster apart. Get the spring out and use a puller to pull the cyl out of the pilot. Reseal the cyl and lube it up good on the outside, then put it back in. I have done this many times but usually while doing the undercarrage so the track was off. You may have to split the track.
Later Bob
