How much trouble is changing the ring and pinion? Early 50's model.

Must be an early 50's. HD-7s were built from 1940 to 1950. I think AC started with the ring & pinion and bolted every thing else to it. Pinion is the output shaft of the transmission and the output shaft to the finals goes through the ring gear so one final drive pinion has to be removed and that friction removed so the output shaft can be slid out of the ring gear. Next remove transmission starting with the engine.

Good Luck,
Lee
