CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW MANY POUNDS OF PRESSURE THE FULE PUMP HAS AND THE INJECTOR PUMP HAS
I CANT GET THE DOZER OT STAY RUNNING I BLEED IT AND IT WILL RUN FOR 10 SECONDS. I TOOK OFF THE LINE THAT WENT TO ONE OF THE INJECTORS AND I PUT MY FINGER OVER THE END OF THE LINE AND I CAN HOLD THE FULE FROM COMING OUT WITH VERY LITTLE EFFERT. THE FULE PUMP HAS A LITTLE MORE PRESSURE TO IT, IM GOING TO CHECK THE PRESSURE POUNDS TOMOROW. THANKS ROSCO

Well I found the problem my brother inlaw put the fuel filter on and he put the seal in the top of the filter and it couldnt get ant fuel. So it runs great. I want to thank everybody for your time and help. Thanks

the C.A.V. injector pump has two small pistons in the high presure side of the pump I would bet that the pistons are stuck and not moving freely
had this problem on my 500 it sat several years.

There were a couple of guy's over on the redpower site that had similar problems. One of them turned out that a gasket on one of the fuel pumps was twisted and leaking air in

 Re: Dangerous ?? in reply to ROSCO50, 11-04-2006 18:58:42
Some of alleged danger is BS. As already said, it's not a great idea to be plugging injector lines with your finger. But - the reality is - doing so it not anywhere near as dangerous as often claimed. Even though a pump is capable of generating WELL over 2000 PSI it only does so when its flow is blocked by something that can hold that sort of pressure. If your finger-tip is held over an open line and it can only sustain maybe 10-20 PSI before leaking, then that is all the pressure there will be. If it was high flow - e.g. from a hydraulic pump - it would be a little different. The real danger is when there is a fuel injector hooked to the line and it is set to open at very high pressure - and - deliver that high-pressure fuel in a very narrow path - kind of analogous to a fuel-laser beam. That IS very dangerous. Not only because it will easily penetrate skin - but also because it can cause some dangerous, strange, and sometimes hard-to-treat blood-poisoning and tissue-infection. With an injector hooked to the line, and leak anywhere downstream can be high-pressure and a hazzard. Even the little fuel-injection pump used in the old Volkswagen Rabbits or Chevy Chevettes can generate up to 50,000 PSI (350 MPa) and some modern pumps can generate 300,000 PSI (assuming I'm converting my metric stuff properly) That's a little scary. Back to your situation, if the thing will run for 10 seconds at a time, then it sounds like the injection pump is still making adequate pressure. So, it may just be a simple delivery problem. That injection pump needs no pressure at the inlet end - but must have fuel available all the time. Naturally, any situation when there is more fuel available than being used - there has to be some pressure - even if just from gravity. But the injection pump will work just as well a 1/2 PSI as it will at 10 PSI as long as it is getting all the flow of fuel it needs.

You are lucky!. Also take your Cap lock off. Now pressure is caused by resistance to flow so the resistance for the high pressure side of the injection pump is caused by trying to open the injector. Take one injector out and hook it to the high pressure line , bleed it and see if a fine mist comes out of the tip once you have the line bleed. How many bleeder screws are there on your injection pump? All the CAV model DPA pumps I am familiar with have two, one for the transfer pump side and one for the housing, Start there. J.

The cap lock was on your computer keyboard.

READ BOBS POST! Before you do anything else! Then read it again. You are very lucky. Diesel injection pumps put out well over 2000psi and will easily go through your skin. Dave

your injection pump should be a C.A.V.pump, model D.P.A. with a seperate diaphram type feed pump driven off the engine.(could also have an electric feed pump). If not disregard this.

feed pump pressure= 6-10psi

transfer pump presure( located on the very end of the injection pump): @ cranking speed with fuel lever in shut off position= 5psi minimum @ low idle= 16-39 psi @ rated rpm= 38-51 psi

Injection presure( nozzle opening pressure)
= 2350-2425psi

PLEASE keep fingers away from the injector lines!

If the IP were working, it's high output fuel pressure is more than capable of penetrating human skin, and killing you!

OK WELL THE LINES GOING TO THE INJECTORS ARE JUST SPITTING OUT VERY LITTLE FULE SO IF THE FULE PUMP IS BAD WOULD THIS BE THE PROBLEM OR IS IT THE INJECTOR PUMP

The lines will only ever spit out very little fuel, they meter the correct amount for each injection cycle.
