Hi everybody, My father and I just bought a john deere 350 bulldozer, and the tracks are stuck. Since we really know nothing about them, I was just wondering where to start to fix it. Also where is a good place to get manuals for it. We called a john deere dealer and wow. Thank you

Pull the drain plug in the bottom of the final drive housings. If there is water or live rust then it might not be the tracks. I you are going to drag it around again tie the clutch handles back into clutch (not brake) position and it may break loose.

Do the brake levers have resistence when you pull them back all the way? If you have an older machine before a C model it will have dry brakes. They might have got water and or moisture in the case and something rusted solid. If the tracks are a little loose, can you move them up and down at all between the idler and carrier roller. This might indicate if it's the tracks or something internal. Also check if there is a parking brake. I had a 355 and I think it had a flip over latch to lock the brake down. Just a thought. Hope you can get it loose. Dave

We tried dragging it around and nothing moved and are worried it might be something seized in the transmission. Had to hire somebody to come and load it on a trailer to bring it to us and they dragged it a good 100 ft and the tracks did not turn a bit.

Jack up the machine so the whole tracks are off the ground. Then see if it will turn. It will turn easier without having to move the machine as well. If it still wont turn then you need to use oil or something to loosen them. Heat may be another option because the oil might not get inside the bushings. Hope this helps. Dave

Use a mixture of Old Hydrulic oil and some deisel fuel, Spray, respray and soak. If you can get one off at a time , soak and drag them around with a farm tractor. Bob

i may be able to help you with manuals also have parts email me for a link. If it is the tracks they are stuck because the pins&bushing are new or like new. If they have sat to long they become one and you will never free them. If you get them to move at all and can run it in a creek or pond with a solid bottom water will free them faster and better then oil but if you do get them free you must run the heck out of them or they will freeze again. If you can't free them you may have to have them pressed apart cleaned and reassemblied

are you sure its the tracks, I recently went to a D6 with "Stuck Tracks" the tractor had sat in a pond for a considerable time, water got in the Final Drives and rusted the bearingsk. it also rusted up the bearings on the ring gear shaft
I drug the tractor out of the pond, opened the grease valve on the track adjuster and pushed the Idler back with a loader, the track went slack and drooped between the idler and top roller.
if it is the track try soaking the pins with WD 40 only the bottlon and first 2 0r 3 links on the idler and sprocket and push and pull with another tractor
