I have a 530 case backhoe. the previous owner said that it started loosing power in reverse first, then in forword. I took the diesel motor out and I'm rebuilding it. I don't want to make a mistake installing it and finding out later that the torque conveter is bad. So if you have any ideas on what going on with it, that would be great. thanks

if the engine ran when you bought the machine you should have tried to locate the problem with the transmission before removing the engine. It may have been just a fluid/filter problem. Now the only way to do it is to tear down the torque converter and completly ck evertthing before putting the engine back in, otherwise you will be taking the engine out again. I have this machine but I have never had any problems with the torque converter. These are about as tuff a old back hoe as was ever made, they will run for ever. I had another one before this one and there was never a machine more worn out but it kept on digging and pushing. It had really been abused and neglected before I got it and I was just as hard on it. I kept it 10 years and still sold it for $200 more than what I paid for it. Good luck.
