Well today I went to Everret F's place and checked out by 350B. He's got her completely torn down, amazing to watch a mechanic who knows what he's doing. Former deere mechanic, tallented guy. In layman's terms here's how it looks. First the isolator disk's splines are worn 50% and, as you can imagine, so is the spider. The springs are loose with slop, therefore, isolator rebuild required. The spider shaft splines over 50% warn, hub is fine, but not shaft, therefore, new spider needed. Clutch packs look very good, little sign of heat. The output shaft's splines are warn, therefore, new output shaft and coupler required. The pistons on the reverser are in ok shape, the metal seals had colapsed some and there was the leak on the forward pack piston. Those seals will need to be replaced. The hydraulic body that slides into the pistons was scored where it seats on the shaft, that will need to be replaced. Of course all the associated gaskets will need to be replaced. Finally, the water pump bearins are tired. The motor is in excellent shape, the tranny is good, the finals are good. Will be worth fixing, but trying hard to find used parts to dull the pain, new parts are coming in at $3300. Any help with used parts is appreciated. Thanks Everet, Ed, demaris and all others who help me regularly. Sincerely,
Joel

Just to save your guy some extra work ,, I made up an adapter that goes on a STRONG electric drill..This adapter allows me to " run " the reverser while it's still on the ground..I fill reverser with oil , loop the cooler lines , install a pressure gauge , have someone to hold on to the drill motor while I work the clutch valve and shifter valve..This adapter is made up of an old clutch center with the same spline as used on the reverser , a piece of pipe to go over the splines and a bolt turned down to fit the drill chuck..With this all welded together , I can run the reverser and check for leaks before installing it..For some reason the front seal will leak every once in a while...

Thanks Roy, I figured I'd here from you sooner or later. I had read in an earlier post that you bench tested the reversers prior to installing, now I understand how.
It's a great idea, I guess it's everyone's worste nightmare that you put it all back together and then there is a leak.
Thank you very much,
Sincerely,
Joel

A lot of used parts outfits are part of a used equipment association. Check with a dealer. They can probably locate some parts for you. Dave

Thanks for the thought,
Will check with local Nortrax as a start.
My local Deere dealer has no insight into the heavy equipment, they refer me to Nortrax.
I had a similar thought during my ride home tonight. I"ll call first thing in the am.
Thank you,
Joel
