I have a AC H 3 crawler, first off I cant get the adjusters for the track to turn, any ideas? I am thinking about trying heat from a torch, is there any reason why this cant be tried? second, I keep breaking starters, I have been told it is timing but the timing is dead on, could it be the ring gear? Also does anyone know where to find used parts for a H 3? I need one roller, it is froze up, I have worked a lot on wheel tractors but this is my first with tracks so its all kind of new to me, although I am finding a lot of similarites between wheel and tracked,, thanks,,,,Jim

Jim,I am located in western Pennsylvania and have found one place for new and one for used parts for an H-3 and HD-3. Where are you located? My HD-3 never gave me any trouble with the starter. I think you will find some similarities between the H3- HD3 and the AC D15.

Yes, heat is the only way to get them to move. and a very big wrench,[have you losened the two small lock bolts??} I havent heard of that starter trouble before. You dont want to buy a used roller, unless your shell is worn out. They are very exspensive and hard to find.if you find a used one thats good, $100-300 is the going rate.New shell`s are even more $450 is the last price i heard. If your shell is still good,Id reccomend rebuilding it[should be under$100.00] keep in mind that it will take alot of work to replace that one roller.GOOD LUCK GLENN

Thanks Glenn, the roller is pretty good yet, just froze up and wont turn, it has wore down the one side so that the lip is gone, I am sure the wear is from the tracks riding on the frozen roller, a local welding shop says they can put a new lip on it, they charge 35$ per hour, said its about a 2 hour job, I think I will just have that done,,, Thanks,, I will let you know if heat does the trick on the track tighteners,,,,Jim
