This ad is in today's paper - in Central New York.
Seems awful cheap -tempted to buy it myself - if true - but I have too much stuff and don't want to deal with it. Maybe somebody ought to call and ask a few questions. The ad: BULLDOZER J.D. 450 Dozer Crawler, engine and trans completely rebuilt, runs great, new rollers and tracks; $3500. 607-693-2219.

No mention of the condition of the final drives...

Gotta be a typo error...Probably should say $13,500.00..... .Heck they got that much in the engine and trans if they did them themselves..Let alone the undercarriage....

Deal or not? in reply to Roy Suomi, 11-19-2006 15:10:37
It probably IS too good a deal to be true. But, I usually check any such deal - and it seems - that the one out of a hundred that I DON'T check, I hear some story later about a great buy someone else got. I've got a over a hundred tractors as it is. And, today I was cursing the snow while trying to get the roof on my new barn. I decided - that I would not call about this ad- one reason being - if it sounded good on the phone - then I'd blow the whole day driving over there to look at it. A few months ago, nearby McFaddens - a big tractor salvage yard and auction place - had an auction. There was a Case 580CK advertised. I was real intereseted in if for parts - but said to myself "the heck with it." I figured if it sold anything close to cheap, the bossman - Jim Mcfadden would out-bid me himself - he's done it before. So, I didn't go. A week later, I meet some guy with a Case 580CK chained to his trailer. So I ask, "where'd you get it." He told me he picked it up at McFaddens auction for $500. I left pretty disgusted - and was, and still am, hoping the guy was lying to me about the price.

Prices paid for equipment are a lot like hearing fuel mileage on someone elses pick-up truck...I gave up on it here..Auctions here in Ohio are usually bid up so high , it's not even worth standing out in the cold to bid..I haven't had a deal in years...I get better deals from the Case dealer here.. 2 years ago I bought a MT Trackless for 500.00 [ 6 cyl. , articulating , forward cab , blower , blade.]
