I HAVE A CAT 12 GRADER THAT I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A JOB ONE DAY AND LOST HIGH RANGE, THEN HAD LOW RANGE FOR A COUPLE MILES THEN LOST LOW RANGE AND EVERYTHING WON"T GRIND, GOES INTO ANY GEAR WITHOUT CLUTCH PETAL PETAL FEELS NORMAL, BLADE WORKS AND SCAFFIRE TEETH WORK AND INPUT WOULD HELP!! MACHINE WON"T MOVE

I was hopeing it was the clutch.by the sounds of it.Its more serious it has been a good grader for years.done allot of work for us.thanks for the information.I can use all you got.

Well Karl, it might be. I was just going on what you said. If you think it felt like a slipping clutch check that first. A clutch doesn't usually just let go with out slipping a bit, but since you could drive in low for a bit it might be the problem.

One more thing Karl, take off the 4" sq plate on the LH side of the clutch where you adjust the throw out levers. Have some one put it in gear and try to move, see if the shaft into the trans turns or stops. Later Bob

Karl, there might be a plate you can take off and have a look inside to see what is wrong but I think you will need it out to do any repairs.

Karl, the Power Control Box gets it's power direct through the trans from the flywheel so it's live all the time. Sounds like you lost a bearing or two inside the trans and the gears have come out of mesh. Roll the engine trans and tandems out from under the frame to get at everything.
