I have an 58 model 9U D6 cat with a 318 6 cyl motor oil psi droped from 19 to 11 psi and is staying there .
Quetion, On the oil filters is there a check valve that could have some trash in it? If so do you have a break down of parts? Any help is welcome MIke

Answered your oil cooler question on your other post.
If the oil pressure is stable, even though a bit low, I wouldn't worry about it, so long as you keep an eye on it and you have at least some pressure.

More likely you are seeing the effects of engine/bearing wear on a tired engine. They will still go a long time even though the pressure is low.

What service or work (if any) was done that may coincide with the drop in oil pressure?

I don't know exactly ?? When I first saw the old cat it didn't run so good, Guy told me it had a head problem. He pulled the head and found that the piston was bad ,he said he pulled them all and reringed it put it together still didn't run to good replaced injectors and pump.

well anyway next time I heard it, it ran so good I bought it.

I ran it today, first cranked it up 25psi, after an hour 22 two hours 19psi three hours 15, three and half 12 and it seemed to stay there I let it idle for awhile back to 20psi

This is a lot different that it has been running

normaly it'll be 23 cold go to 19 and thats it.

you think I need to put a oil cooler on it? Thanks for your time?

it is in the pan.
you have to take the plates off that hold the tractor to the spring and jack up the tractor and be very careful to put blocks under the tractor, dont depend on the jack. the pan is cast iron and heavy I run a rope under mine and use a cherry picker to lower the pan . There is a process to letting the pan down with out breaking anything.

There are no check valves in the filters.
There are two relief valves in the filter base.
One to bypass oil cooler if it becomes clogged.
One to bypass oil filter if it gets clogged.
Neither one would have effect on oil pressure.

Other candidates might be clogged oil pump pickup screen or oil pump pressure relief or control valve.
