I was looking at a 17A and the man said that it would use between 1 to 2 gallons of oil in a hard working day.
I am by no means an expert but this does sound excessive.
What is the exceptable oil use?

Before i was dumping cheap oil in it because i thought it was burning it learned a leason about using cheap oil.Penny wise, pound foolish.

When that tractor was new a gal of engine oil to a tank of fuel was acceptable. Cat would not do anything to that amount of oil consumption on a new tractor. that is not bad at all.
