You can get the manuals at a Deere dealer as I did a couple of years ago for my own 420C. The parts and service both. It is better to have the whole manual than a few pages copied or faxed, you will find it well worth it when it comes time to order parts, do some work, or even have the work done. Having the manuals helps you understand the machine and thus run and maintain it better.

Yeah, I can. I bought my first 420 in 1959, brand new. Still got it. Take the square cover off over the final drive. Unscrew the barrel-bung cover from the front side behind your foot. You'll be able to see the throwout bearing and the fingers that it moves. If you can't, move the crawler a little til you can. The throw out bearing is on a slotted collar that is held tight by a capscrew/bolt, takes either 1/2 or 9/16 socket on an extension. The bearing should be about 1/16" from the fingers. If the fingers are too far away the clutch won't disengage. If that isn't the problem the clutch is probably stuck and you'll have to take the final drive off. I don't know of any other way to unstick it. If you pull the final drive there are two bolts that come out from towards the center of the tractor, under the clutch housing, besides the ones you can see. Your best bet is get a repair manual from John Deere, about 60 bucks, worth every penny.
