555 ford loader shuttle problem

Hello, A 555 ford loader with a shuttle has problem going foward. It may start foward when shifted, but usually takes 10 seconds or more to start foward.(sometimes a minute)Reverse will work immediantly. It doesn't seem to be different if cold or warmed up. thanks for any help. mw

From your description , I would say the forward clutch-pack is leaking..The control valve spool is pretty much idiotproof..The only other place might be the front cover gasket where the shift valve spool and the front pump are located..
