One of the track tensioners is oozing grease out of the zerk fittings where you add grease to tension the tracks. The track loses tension within 15 minutes or so. I have taken the assembly apart, cleaned everything, replaced the steel ball and washers, and reassembled. It is still leaking grease where the zerk threads in to the assembly. JD does not stock the spring which holds tension on the steel ball. Could it be weak from age? Would adding more washers to put more pressure on the steel ball help?
Thanks, Jack

Take the fitting assembly to your favorite small machine shop and let the machinist clean the seat where the ball seals the grease from coming out..Just a little hit with a small grinding ball should clean it up..There might just be some crap in the seat , not needing machining..

As a followup, it turns out that the check ball and spring are only a way to release pressure on the tracks. They have to hold pressure in normal operation, but the grease zerks are a special leakproof design, even though they look identical to standard zerks. The original zerks had started to leak, and lose track tension, I replaced them with standard zerks, which leaked just as bad. The 1/4-28 leakproof zerks are no longer available from Deere, but still manufactured by Alemite.

Thanks for the replies, I think that I will try to clean out the seat, and try to check for leakage with shop air blowing in the piston end of the assembly. Jack

Could add a small ball valve in line with the zerk. Did this to an old linkbelt. Turn valve on tension the track then turn the valve off.
