I just bought a IH 175B and have lots of questions. The first order of business is that I need to adjust the tracks. The adjusting cylinders that take the grease are froze up. How do you losen them up. I put a chain around the idle wheel and rolled the bucket and all that did was pull the cylinder away from the block it pushes against. Thanks

If you take the grease fitting out it should slide. I'm guessing that your problem is more than just being stuck. Your plastic seal that goes on the end of the rod is probably bad. I've got a 250 and 150.

I took the plugs out to try to get it to contract and it would do that either. Is there a spring in the box that the cylinder pushes agaisnt?

I've run into this many times on Deere stuff..I have someone pressurize the grease fitting with a good grease gun..While the pressure is on ,I tap on the track adjuster anywhere there isn't chrome ..Many times the shock plus pressure will help push out the track adjuster.Sometimes it doesn't work in extreme cases , then you will have to resort to repairing the problem..

That's all it should do. Take the grease fitting out and and try a new one. If the grease is all hard take something small and dig it out carefully. You could spray some penetrating oil to loosen it up. I've had to do that on a few grease locations. Dave
