3/53 Detriot Oil Loss

I have a 3/53 Detroit in a Dynohoe that is losing oil out of what the owners manual says is the blower vent tube (right side behind the starter). There is no crankcase pressure out the breather, no pressure at the oil fill, or at the dipstick. I have changed the blower air filter thinking it was restricted and did not fix the problem. Any ideas?

What oil are you using? Should never use mutli-weigh oils in Detroits.

Check the oil requirements listed by Detroit:

It is normal to have a small amount of oil drip from the vent tube.

more often than not its the seals on the rotors in the blower that are leaking by,also comes from not running hot enough.engine temp in a detriot is very critical to how they preform.it could also be a wrist pin retaining disk but that usaully shows up in a big leak and lots of smoke.how much are they leaking?

About a quart per 2 hours engine use. Enough to follow the trail. It does smoke alot.

That is a lot, probably the blower seals. I ran a machine with a 6V53 that had broken piston rings, and it would leak out a couple of cups of goo in 8 hrs.
