I wish this dozer was near me - I'd have bought it already. It'd cost me thousands just to truck it here to central NY. It's worth twice the price just in parts. 1980 450B Deere. Ebay item # 140062307799 $1850 "buy it now" price or best offer - in Florida.

jdemaris, you must not have looked at this one to close. It cant be a 1980, if so it would be a C.
Also, it has just the single gear shift on the side which means it has to be a straight 450. I saw this the first time the ad ran about 6 months ago. It is probably liget since the guy lists his phone number. Like the others have said, its a good deal but in the wrong place.

Still a good deal at $1850 in reply to projacktech, 12-08-2006 20:11:17
No, I did not look close. Why bother? I'm not nowhere near Florida so it's a moot point. As far as the vintage, it would make no difference to me. If I was buying a 450 series to fix up, I'd much rather have a dry-clutch dozer than a "C" or later wet clutch. We sold many Cs new, and the wet clutches have just as many problems as the dry - and cost more to fix. I find the older 450s with the HL-R shifter on the floor the easiest to work on - but I don't care for first engines. The 202 has low power and used straight conventional piston rings and piston grooves. Later engines have bigger bore and Keystone rings - they are much more durable. The seller says it's a B, and if so, it will have the bigger engine. But, there is no need for me to check. The seller also says it has a 6-way blade - but from the pictures it is an outside 4-way - not a 6-way. It also has loader tracks - not dozer. Regardless, it's a very good deal at $1850 - if I could get here for that price - which I cannot.

Sounds like one of those "in reality it only needs 10 grand in engine work and 12 grand in under carrage work" type deals.
I'm thinking a 450B is worth more than $1850 in scrap alone let a lone a few salvagable parts that could make up the $1850.
Sounds like a scam.

My question always is, if they are legit, in places like that is if they have been full of salt water. With that said, I have gotten some really nice stuff, cheap out of Florida.

I agree that's a cheap price. That's probably a legit ebay sale, but more and more I've been seeing 'hijacked' legitimate ebay id's being used for phoney sales. A suspiciously low "buy it now" price (where "immediate payment is required") for a copied/fake ebay item along with a plea for the buyer to contact the seller directly via email or phone are usually the tipoff (usually run by Nigerians). He does say to come see it, but some might be tempted to snap it up (and bid) before coming to see it so they wont lose out on the "great deal". One way or another, I would definitely go see it in person before bidding.

Did anyone see the Nigerian scam special on ABC TV tonight? What they talked about makes these scams more possible than you and I would ever believe.

Several months ago I remember that dozer was for sale on ebay in an auction. I just can't remember if it sold and if its the same seller. Also he lists it as an 1980 but if its an 80 it would be a 450C. Also he requires immediate payment by paypal. Sounds fishy with the nigerian type wording in the description to, buyer beware.

That’s the right deal in the wrong place once again. What would a guy expect for a 1974 JD450B with 6 way blade, rippers, ROPS, running diesel engine with 2,700 hours. Needs work on the right side UC (worn sprocket & track links along with a few other things I'm sure).
