what caterpillar model has a small pony engine to start the main engine ?

If you have an older CAT crawler most didn't have data plates like the newer ones do. If it's not blocked by a ripper or anything look on the back of the machine on the top left corner right outside of the steering clutch housing (actually the main body of the machine) for the serial number. It should be stamped in the housing.

THE D2,933,D4,955,D6,977,D7,D8,D9 and more use poney to start the big motor and I have some.

many do. D318 8-cyl. diesel used a 2-cyl. pony motor using gasoline to start D 8 dozers & 7T Cat road graders. The number of your engine may be cast into the bottom on the side of the radiator mount.
