Hi Kelley,

How did you end up getting your hard bar out?
Nice to know you can get the pan off on one of those beasts in case I have to get into mine.
Are you pulling the head too? Does yours have holes
burnt through on the loader crossbeam to get a
socket on head bolts?

i hope you never have to take pan off,not an easy job.i raised the front as high as it would go,but still ended up cutting the bar in two to get it out. i cut it between the loader frame and engine so ican get at it to weld it back together again, and there is room there to weld plates along the sides and underneath. i also had to cut the loader loose from the front bar so i could get enough clearance to tip oil pan down over front bar. alot of work but easier than taking loader off.i just bought this about 3 weeks ago so everything is new to me.im used to working on my 2 cylinder jds, later kelley

Hi Alcat,
The torquing of bolts is in fact stretching the bolts to a controlled limit. No reason not to follow this procedure as described by the manufacturer. You are correct on the oil pressure, low oil pressure is usually due to bearing wear. Shimming the relief valve may help on a borderline case but it does not assure delivery if you have excessive clearances.

Forget about the cotter pin holes. tighten both rod and mains to 30 FLBs the add a quarter of a turn. you can help the OP by adding shims to the relief valve. I usually install a new spring and put back the original shim plus 1 thin one.

I do not think that the 7U was fitted with stretch bolts on either the mains or the rods,if your bolts has holes for cotter pins and the nuts have slots they are not stretch bolts and require torquing as OM stated,I doubt very much if messing with the relief valve will increase the oil pressure, usually low oil pressure will be caused by worn crank bearings or worn oil pump.

Rod torque 58 ft.lbs.
Mains 120 ft.lbs.
Always advance to the cotter pin hole alignment.
The oil pump pressure does not have an adjustment feature.
