Looking at buying a 3 cylinder 555 Ford backhoe. Present owner thinks its a 1982 model. What years were the 555 3 cylinders made and what year did Ford go to the 4 cylinder in their 555 backhoe?

I think the 555 was made in the 80"s and the 550 was made in the 70"s.

I had a 555B model and it was a 1988 ? Take the unit number off the tag on the LH cowl and a dealer should be able to tell you for sure. The 555 should be real old 1970's then their was the 555A I'm not sure about the 4cyl. as mine was 3cyl. I saw a model 655A or B and it was just like my hoe except 4cyl.
