I have a old 755 John Deere Loader that a few years back put on a set of D5 cat Tracks pins turned and resealed. They were tight to get together for they are only 39 links rather than forty. Now the sprockets and bottom rollers are shot and I wonder if I replace them will I be able to get tracks together. The chain are probably 40% and it would save me a bunch. Any suggestions will be appreciated/

Toby

Toby… yes the only thing that is not compatible with that trade is you have to use the JD carrier roller. The 755JD had 40 links. The “Sealed” tracks should have 39 links, you will need (or shouldn’t had ) one more link for that track modification. I bet there were hard together. The link assemblies should be 3p5757. The other question, it appears the rail height is the same on both tracks 4.06 inch. (4 1/16”).

You could have the pins and bushings turned if you have not done so already. Then your new sprockets will be running with like new bushings. I wouldn't worry about running 40% worn rails on new rollers.

I am guessing that you can pin a master link back to back and then put it in is that correct if that can be done my problem is solved. By the way it has cat alligator style master links what an improvment over the john deere drive out style

The worn rails and bushings will cause premature wear on the new sprockets and rollers, the chains are stretched and won't fit in the sprockets properly, and the rolled off edges of the chains will wear an uneven pattern in the rollers. This will be passed on to the new set of chains when you replace them and cause them to wear unevenly. Best bet would be to have the chains welded up and new pins andbushings installed. Same holds true if the idlers are worn.

Interesting that the track pitch and rail height are the same between the 755 and D5. Don't know about the rail width. Hard to say whether the sprocket wear would match the pin and bushing wear for a fit. About all you could do is try it and worse case you may have to add a link.

Deere used Cat undercarriage on the larger machines and excavators Early 750 and 755 were 6.91 pich same as early D5 Later 750C were 7.5 Also 755A and 755B were 8 inch pitch same as a D6C,D6D and D6H.
