My brother-in-law has an old Case 310E crawler. It started missing about a month ago. He pulled off the valve cover and found a bent pushrod on the #2 cyl intake.

He was able to press down intake valve, found no issues with the rocker arm, so got a new pushrod and put it in the engine. The tractor ran a month with out issue hitting on all four, then today started missing again. Same cyl. Looks like it bent again.

Engine does not knock, or sound bad. No exhaust smoke or coolant loss. I'm assuming these old units had no more than 8 to 1 compression and most likely were free float engines (valves could not hit the pistons if timing gears go out of time.) Looking in the plug hole doesn't show any piston damage or something floating around in there.

We have not worked on this particular engine before. Can you enlighten us. We are kind of baffeled.

Thx skk

its most likley not getting enough oil on the valve stem. causing it to stick. had a 1150 do this found it was as small plug of crud in the oil flow not letting it get enough oil
