What makes of dozers are obsolete? I didn't know if all the Allis, IH, Dresser, Fiat-Allis dozers are very difficult to get parts for. After market under carriage parts are not carried for dozers with limited demand.

Depends on your definition of obsolete. I tried to order some parts recently for my 1990 Chevy truck - and according to the Chevy dealer, my truck is "obsolete." I know that many aftermarket undercarriage parts from companies like Berco have ceased production except for the high movers like Deere and Cat. But - take Allis Chalmers, for example. You can still buy the parts new direct from AGCO - but the prices are sky high. Just bought some brand-new undercarriage parts for my Allis HD4. Also tons of used parts around and also, New-Old-Stock. Also, I suspect that soon, the Chinese will be making some of the stuff that Berco stopped making. For myself, I'm more concerned about odd-ball engines and transmissions. And, even some that are NOT odd-ball, but parts are so expensive they are not worth fixing. John Deere 450 for example. Most older 450s, if the HL-R trans needs major repairs - the parts cost more than the crawler is worth. I'd much rather have to fix a blown trans in a 1956 AC crawler than a 1967 Deere with an HL-R. But of course, the Deere is much nicer to run.

Try rockauto (rockauto.com) for your 1990 Chevy parts.

I buy from Rock Auto all the time. Some of the best prices around. I have no problem getting aftermarket parts. I'm talking about OEM parts from General Motors. For example. I was buying OEM exhaust pipes only from GM, for years. They are (or were) much better quality than I could ever get from Rock Auto, NAPA, etc. Thick double-walled and galvanized. They'd last four times as long as the cheap after-market stuff.
Last time I tried to get pipes - they ordered me Walker pipes instead - right at the Chevy dealer - NOT the OEM GM pipes. So, I asked what the story was. They told me my 1990 truck is obsolete and GM no longer makes those parts. Also tried to get the OEM aluminum AC pipes for my 89 GMC Suburban that run the lengh of the truck and go to the rear AC. Again - dealer says the truck is obsolete. I had no trouble making the parts - but cannot buy them from GM. That's not very impressive product support if my Chevy is considered, by the maker, obsolete in 17 years. I will say - be it luck or not - that I've ordered several OEM parts for my 85 and 94 Ford F250s and all were available from the Ford dealer. There are several small parts on my Fords that are not available aftermarket.
