I went and looked at a TD8E today and it has some issues.
The engine bottom end is tore apart and I did not get any straight answers as to why, So where can I pick up an engine? What Engine will fit?
The machine has the 6 way blade and 40% UC, What is the machine worth knowing I need to replace the engine.

The DT239 engine is used by a number of farm tractors and also several industrial tractors. The engine is basically good. Just assemble the balancers as indicated by the service manual. The engine will give good service, horsepower and balance in the tractor. When IH was purchased by Komatsu a lot of the machines were built with Cummins engines. It was a help for several models, but the TD8E was an excellent tractor with the DT239.

The d 239 ih engine has a funky oil ballancer that goes bad right in the bottom as also the crank. That engine is very expensive to work on .
Most people now days put a cummings conversion
kit in the tractor if it is wort it. Kit aroun $2,500 then new engine another 5 grand so you are spending big bucks. Not a lot of running d239s left. Td8 is one nice machine short of the this engine shortcomming.

The engine is a DT-239, it was used in the TD-8E and the 125E loader. I guess if you are handy with the wrenches you might be able to made something out of it. Call Construction Equipment Parts Co. 800-727-8787. They have TD-8E for parting out. If not they can get on the parts hotline. Price, find out how much the parts are; you might be better on passing it up and get something that runs.
