I sure appreciate the responses other day (1-10-07) answering my questions, now I got more.
I'm learning about dozers, but this dozer seems to be in pretty good shape.
I bought it last year for my wifey....our anniverisary. Thought I was gonna have to sleep on it for a while too....she got a bit upset for some reason. haha
Anyway,I bought it last year from a widow.... apparently the gentleman that had it really kept it up & spent some pretty big bucks on it in last few years he used it.
I've put about 20-25 hrs on it since I got it.

I been looking for manuals on Ebay & other sites.
Anybody got any good suggestions where to look?

My 12' dozer blade is hyd. up/down, manual angle.
The tag on blade shows serial #16C5869, then 6A Bulldozer. In looking round for manuals I see 6A & 6S, then usually some serial #'s. Are these #'s for which dozer/tractor it fits, or serial #'s of blade the manuals fit?
Also I see books & manuals like "44Hyd, 153 Hyd, etc," then serial #'s of book. Once again, these #'s fit tractor, or the Hyd system?
I guess there will be a tag somewhere on the hyd system showing model #? And how I find out what hyd system my D6-9U ser#6914SP has?

I haven't pulled any covers off yet, but need to. Fan belt is loose, but been keeping eye on temp. Need to service the tractor everywhere it needs.

Another question: Does the hyd pump mount & run off the front crankshaft? If so, is there any U-joints in there usually that need greasing???

I learned the hard way on an old Ford 4500 BH I bought years ago....grease worms got it & spit u-joints out the front.
Just about everything I've ever learned thru the years, I've learned the spendy hard way.....& usually it's been on some kind of machine that I bought to learn on myself. (semi's, dump trucks, BH, welders....now this dozer)

Going to try to post some questions over on ACMOC forum when I can.
Thanks
James

Also forgot, the Operators Instructions, is another good one to have, Serviceman's Reference Book, Parts Catalog, one for the D318 engine, 6A 6S dozer, and one for the hydraulics system and you'll have a complete set. There were a couple of 6A 6S master catalogs in there for that blade, and I find that a lot of these originals are in nice shape

The ACMOC site was recently revised. Basically same site but now administered by same source as ACME. They make you go through a ritual to get signed up so as to avoid scammers etc. Keep trying. If you want, email me and I will send you dimensions for fuel guage.

And O-Magnet, I really wanted to open that link you posted over there 1-10-07 about d6-9U dipstick. Mine is just a brazing rod with no markings & really hard to see fuel level.
Too scared to run it low just to fill up 5 gal or so at time to try to make stick marks.

Thanks bunches again. Been trying to get on & post over at ACMOC, but can't post there or look/open any pictures etc. over there. I thought I had gotten signed up over there again a few days ago, but....
Is that site a new one? I thought I'd already signed up over there last year, but site looked different or something.
The newer looking site showes "Welcome ttman4" but won't let me post.
The older looking ACMOC site won't let me do anything.
I signed up at ACME site & it will let me post etc.
I dunno...maybe nobody wants me. Boohoo....
