If the leak is outside sproket some time you need only adjustement on holder and if it inside sproket you need to removed it.

When my finals (JD555A) started leaking I pulled them. Seals were junk. Rubber torn and chewed up. No amount of liquid majic would have helped. Its a job to do but nothing to run from. Split the tracks, pull the sprocket, remove final and make repairs. Nothing a good shade tree mechanic can't do, everthing is just bigger. I used my tractor's rear lift to pull final.

Replacing the output shaft seal is not that big a deal once you remove the u-joint coupling and transmission brake drum.

Finals seals are a major job, split track, move track truck out of the way after dealing with main spring and idler stands, pull sprockets, replace seals and put it all back together again.

yep output shaft looks pretty tight in there, but its straight forward as it looks. I might have to wait on getting into that final it don't leak that much, if I run every day, any advice on it I was thinking of putting some brake fluid in it, maybe soften the seal up any tricks on this one MAGNET
Thanks Mike

I run "Lubrication Engineers" ISO 1,000 (SAE 250)
gear lube in all my finals (only). It is especially formulated for heavy shock loading and it stays in there. Pricey stuff though. At least you might consider a heavier grade oil but there is no fix in a can for worn seals.

I'm running 30 wt motor oil in it and it's on the inside sproket but not leaking real bad, The think about fixing it is that you end up fixing so much other stuff when you get in there stuff that you really don't have the time or money.
Thanks

OldMagnet, Where do you get the Lubrication Engineer ISO 1000 Gear oil? I looked on their web site and did't see anything like that.

Look under #5250 ALMAGEAR EP gear lubricant.
Section is under Industrial Gear Oils
