I've been pushing snow here with my dozer for several days down in some canyon country. The other day I was headed up a hill and backed down to make one more pass. I felt a grinding for about a half second then it locked up and killed the motor. I was cold and everything was covered in snow and ice, besides a long walk back to the pickup. So I left it without further investigation
Any hints as to what problems I might be looking for when I get back to it.
Do you think if its serious, is it worth fixing?
It has been a good old tractor and paid it's way several times over.
Thanks, Gary

If it turns out you need parts, I have a complete HD11 for sale. It had the finals fixed and but has been sitting for a few years, would make a great parts machine. It is in michigan. Email me if you are interested- ror76a@hotmail.com

One other area to look at is the intermediate gear in final drive housing. I had one go out on a HD5. You might try, starting engine, put in gear, pull both clutch levers back, slowly engage clutch at low rpm and if it stalls then its transmission, bevel gear area. Try it first in reverse,if starts to stall, then foward to see if it stalls. I once sucked up a bearing ball floating on the bottom of the case into ring pinion comming down a hill backward and it chipped a tooth on the pinion. If it does move foward, stop and pull the backplate off and run a manget around on the case bottom. There might be a suprise in there. Bob Ohio

that could be final drive bearing or transmission or bevelgear pinion ,check the oil level in final drive and transmission it could help you.
