I was wondering if anyone knows what has happend to the ACMOC ( Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club). I use to post things and answer questions often durring the slow months of winter. I signed up and have been a member of the club for some time but have not been allowed to post anything or answer any questions that others have. Has anyone else experienced this??? It seems to me by doing this they are only hurting themselves. Just wondering? Dave!

OK fellows, It did take some time but I'm on now. If you go to the site and go to Old Magnets post on the problem you will find that you can email GWHDiesel75 via cut and paste. I looked up my old registration number in the old forums and emailed it to him with my address and phone number and some background info and after that it was no problem. Good luck, Dave!

Old Magnet: Glad to see that you are getting on Joe Black's case. The web is only as good as the people running it. Yes, you can get on their website, you can see what people have for sale. For instance, I was trying to buy some R2 parts--can't get on to even ask what the guy has for sale!!!! I use this website alot and when they talk about Caterpillar, I refer them to Antique Caterpillar. I can imagine they have been on the site and can't get on. I know they spend alot of time trying to improve the site, but at this time I don't see any improvements.

Hi Ron P,
I'm not really getting on JB's case, he's the one bright bulb in the pack. As for the administration over there they haven't been able to find their a** with both hands for years. At least Joe has been able to keep the lights on LOL. So far.

Fellows,

I had the same problem. I e-mailed the web master, he responded and said I didn't follow the directions on the e-mail that was sent me when I re-registered. Trouble was, I DID follow the link, etc.
Anyhoo, he did some magic and I was allowed to read attachments, post, etc.

You all may want to send an e-mail to them and complain. SOmething he thinks is happening in their registeration process is not happening all the time.

Dave

ACMOC reorganized its BB back in December requiring everyone to re-register. The process is slow as they are screening all new applicants due to misuse of the BB. Have you begun the process of re-registering?

Old Magnet, Yes, I re-registered and I am reconized when I go to the site but cannot post anything. I do remember seeing some of the abuse that was happening and it is good that something is being done about it. I did not understand what anyone would get out of abusing the site though. I will be glad to give any information that they may want to be able to post and reply again. Thanks, Dave!

Old Magnet, I sent them an email myself giving them my name rank and serial number. Maybe that is what they want? It seems if they can't somehow clear this problem up they stand to loose a lot of good people for a few bad eggs causing problems. I also followed the link as instructed a week or more ago and still cannot post or answer or see any photos either. Dave!

This is the response that was posted at ACMOC:

Thanks for the FYI! We seem to be constantly backlogged on getting many approved, but most of it stems from lack of response to additional requests for info. So far I've weeded out well over 4,000 attempted spammer registrations and if a new registrant doesn't have any matching info from the old board (like new folk or those with new info) then they've got to be verified. I think many don't read their email every day or possibly aren't reading the directions and figure once they click "register" that should be it.

In any case we're going through the list pretty much every evening and getting as many as we can validate. But I can't do too much for those that don't respond when emailed.

Thanks again!

Joe
