My well used backhoe has just stopped raising the front bucket. The bucket dump works as well as all the hoe rams. I cannot hear any fluid moving, or detect any noticable effort to lift so I"m thinking that maybe the valve is not working. The linkage is still hooked up and the the spool is moving...Is there any thing in the spool valve that will fail suddenly. This machine gave no hint that it was getting weak, it just quit. It could be a blown cylinder but actions lead me to the valve. Any suggestions? I"ve no tore into it yet but did run the bucket into a log to lift it up and then pulled the lift handle, it did not lift but it stayed in the up position when I backed away untill I tried to lift again and then it dropped..

Have you down pressure, can you jack the machine up with the bucket,if you no down pressure it could be the cylinder seal is letting oil past the piston,if you have down pressure there could be a problem in the port valve letting the oil escape instead of moving the pistons, once the spool valve is moving and returning to the hold position its unlikely there is a problem with it

Larry, I have a 530CK and if the FEL is worked hard fluid will get behind the control Valve, preventing the control from moving FWD. I just unscrew the CAP, in the rear, and drain.

Hope This Helps,
