cnj is right you have the small clutch in that machine. If you find a motor without clutch set up i have the bellhousing and any parts you may need I also have late 148 motors. email me for my link.

Matt,
I think your machine has a 148 with two starter bolts; which is too early for direct bolt in of a diesel engine(maybe one from a 300 farm tractor. I do think if you have a bell housing from later 310 with the later style 148 (three bolt starter)you can put 188 or 207 engine in it. Also if you do not care for some extra work you could put most any 3-4 cylinder engine in it if you have a bell housing and clutch.
Just my thoughts.

Hi Matt. I am surprised that someone hasn't answered this. Are you talking about the 310 crawler? I don't know what year they started, the later 310 had the Case built 188 diesel engine as option. It was put in the 430-530-630 tractors. It was put in the 350 crawler, it never had a gas engine. It was also used in the early 450 crawler, later changed to 201. The 350 had a torque converter, 310 didn't. Hope this helps. Charley.
